Advancing Neuromorphic Computing: Enlightra Hosts GATEPOST Consortium Meeting

Enlightra recently welcomed international partners from Belgium, Germany, and Greece to our headquarters near Lac Léman for the latest GATEPOST project consortium meeting. Together, we reviewed promising graphene technology measurements and finalized ambitious designs for next-generation optical computing demonstrators.

Advancing Neuromorphic Computing: Enlightra Hosts GATEPOST Consortium Meeting

The meeting provided an excellent collaborative platform to review recent technical milestones and plan a comprehensive list of scientific publications for the upcoming months. During the sessions, the consortium focused on several key developments:

  • Graphene Technology Advancements: The team reviewed highly promising measurement results presented by the IHP – Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics regarding their latest graphene technology.

  • Circuit-Level Demonstrators: Designers from Akhetonics, the WinPhoS group at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), and Hewlett Packard Enterprise showcased their ambitious layouts for sub-modules. These designs are critical steps toward the realization of our neuromorphic computing and optical memory demonstrators.

  • Microcomb Source Development: Enlightra, alongside the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI), shared significant technical progress on the multi-wavelength microcomb source. This foundational technology will be used to drive these advanced, graphene-enabled photonic integrated circuits (PICs).

With the design and review phases concluding successfully, hardware testing is scheduled to commence next month. The GATEPOST project is moving rapidly toward its next major milestones, and we look forward to sharing more exciting results as we continue to push the boundaries of optical interconnects and deep tech innovation alongside our esteemed European partners.
